My Netgear CAX30 Nighthawk cable modem router suddenly stopped working this morning. Seeing these posts tells me many others are experiencing the same problem, with the same device, simultaneously. It’s unfortunate but I’ve lost all faith in Netgear as a company. I refused either & brought all my Netgear tech back to Costco for a full refund. This certainly feels like Netgear is deliberately disabling their CAX30s with a firmware update to either (a) force customers to purchase their support service or (b) push customers to purchase new Netgear equipment. Netgear was truly unhelpful and said they would only walk me through a reset if I paid $90 for their “gearhead support service.” I bought this device less than 18 months ago! An Xfinity technician confirmed Netgear’s modem was the problem. I rebooted only after being prompted to update the firmware via the app.Īfterwards, my modem would no longer send out any internet signal despite Xfinity confirming that the device was receiving a signal. I also rebooted my Netgear Nighthawk CAX30 using the Netgear app on my phone. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
